This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Schedule telehealth appointments, assess patients virtually, and document patient interviews, histories, and primary complaints in Ascend’s EMR system.
• Facilitate telehealth consultations by conducting pre-visit chart reviews, planning, checking equipment, orienting patients with technology, and assisting in provider-patient communication and technology-assisted evaluations.
• Prepare patients for examinations and arrange or perform referrals for standard screening tests.
• Support physicians during examinations and clarify treatment procedures and physician instructions to patients.
• Collaborate with the Care Coordinator to ensure patients have provider-directed care plans and follow-up appointments.
• Organize and manage assigned incoming and outgoing calls, chats, and emails.
• Advise and assist new and current members regarding Ascend Medical’s benefits and services.
• Aid patients in understanding and navigating health insurance to optimize available benefits.
• Handle patient phone messages, online inquiries, and follow-up calls, directing them appropriately.
• Contact or utilize secure messaging to gather and convey important information to physicians.
• Conduct business in a service-oriented, attentive, cooperative, sensitive, respectful, and kind manner.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent healthcare training is required.
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare environment is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Experience with Athena (athenahealth) EMR is preferred.
• Familiarity with clinical procedures, medical anatomy, physiology, ICD-10 and CPT codes, insurance eligibility, and copay determination.
• Exceptional communication skills using appropriate medical terminology while adhering to legal and ethical professional standards.

• Fluency in spoken and written English; bilingual candidates are preferred.
