This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Oversee the management of the Tumor Registry.
• Conduct case finding by examining provisional pathology logs, death certificates, and diagnostic indices.
• Maintain organized case files with information gathered from case-finding reviews.
• Abstract and code necessary information within the ERS/Oncolog system.
• Execute patient follow-up utilizing imaging, the SSI death index, and Vital Records.
• Dispatch monthly letters to patients and physicians.
• Submit monthly case transfers to the State Registry.
• Provide weekly production logs that include production statistics.
• Organize activities related to the Tumor Conference and Cancer Committee.
• Collect positive cases and obtain pathology and cytology information.
• Record patient social information, diagnosis, presenter, and case specifics.
• Prepare, duplicate, and distribute the conference agendas.
• Rectify abstract errors in the ERS/Oncolog system on a monthly basis.
• Submit abstracts to the state and generate statistical reports.
• Assist healthcare providers with research data through Denver Health’s data warehouse.
• Provide timely responses to medical records requests.
• Identify request details and extract relevant information from the Tumor Registry.
• Foster positive relationships with employees, physicians, patients, and visitors.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and ensure a secure environment.
• Comply with Denver Health’s mission, values, and attendance policies.
• A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Typically, two years of experience in the Cancer Registry field, particularly in data collection, is required.
• One year of preferred experience in medical coding.
• CTR or ODS-c certification through NCRA is essential.
• Familiarity with Tumor Registry laws, regulations, and procedures is necessary.
• Engage in training workshops, department, and section meetings.
• Maintain current Continuing Education (CE) hours to uphold CTR or ODS-c certification.
• Proficient computer keyboarding skills are required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and its email and calendar functionalities is necessary.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities are a must.
• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and interpret coding guidelines and make informed coding decisions.
• Knowledge of researching coding-related topics and challenges is important.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
