This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Oversee the overall performance of designated remote camp operations, focusing on Food Service and Housekeeping Departments.
• Maintain NMS standards, policies, and procedures while fostering relationships with clients, customers, and employees.
• Provide management and supervision of activities related to the assigned remote camp.
• Act as the primary resource for NMS Food Service and Housekeeping staff within the designated unit, while also serving as a backup for other areas.
• Deliver and monitor performance against key performance indicators.
• Mentor and develop employees through formal coaching and succession planning initiatives.
• Promote NMS performance excellence strategy and drive continuous improvement efforts.
• Encourage a “One Team” relationship dynamic within NMS.
• Direct and coordinate the services provided by NMS.
• Create and implement comprehensive business plans.
• Establish supervisory systems and formal operating procedures.
• Ensure adherence to sound business practices along with internal and external requirements.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory standards.
• Engage with clients/customers to nurture relationships, market products, address issues, and maintain effective communication.
• Lead, guide, and communicate with staff to keep them informed and motivated.
• Define and convey employee responsibilities, authorities, and accountability.
• Assign tasks and evaluate completed work to ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop and manage the operating budget; approve expenditures within the assigned area budget.
• Create bid materials and cost/manpower templates for catering contracts.
• Develop menus and scopes of work for bid proposals.
• Support safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
• Manage subordinate Managers, Supervisors, and assigned staff.
• Interview, hire, train, assign, direct, evaluate, reward, and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve issues.
• Perform additional duties essential to the success of the department or unit.
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of two (2) years of formal college training relevant to the business field (candidates without any college must possess two (2) additional years of related managerial experience).
• At least seven (7) years of experience in service-based roles, including hospitality, food service, housekeeping, hotel, or remote camp management, with a minimum of two (2) years of significant supervisory responsibilities for a distinct business operation.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance in a remote setting.
• Must successfully complete all pre-employment contract requirements, which may include a criminal background check, drug test, physical and fit-for-duty assessment, and hearing test.
• Must be able to reside in dormitory-style accommodations and meet the cleanliness standards of the remote camp.
• Must comply with all safety guidelines and regulations as set by the company and client.
• The contract mandates that employees must read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Must be capable of performing each essential duty with a high level of professional competency.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the last three (3) years.
• Proven capability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and subordinates effectively.
• Proficient in planning and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of profit attainment and growth strategies.
• Strong ability to lead, build diverse teams, and oversee training initiatives.
• Personal maturity and composure; ability to stay composed under pressure, make sound decisions, and manage diversity.
• A personal drive and enthusiasm, with an affinity for challenges and opportunities for innovation.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft applications and web-based tools.
• Working knowledge of general accounting principles and current NMS accounting policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to meet physical requirements, including lifting and carrying 25 lbs., squatting, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
• Candidates located in the Lower 48 are responsible for certain travel expenses and accommodation related to pre-employment tasks in Anchorage or Fairbanks.
