CAD Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold CAD workspaces, templates, and project standards.

• Install, set up, and update CAD software along with associated applications.

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues pertaining to CAD systems, files, and hardware.

• Oversee CAD blocks, 3D models, and CAD libraries.

• Create and sustain technical guides for client standards, workspace configuration, tool installation, and related setup procedures across various projects and disciplines.

• Ensure proper file organization, plotting standards, and drawing management protocols.

• Provide support to designers and engineers with CAD best practices and enhancements in workflow.

• Work in collaboration with IT and project teams to boost system performance and productivity.

• Formulate and document CAD processes, procedures, and training resources.

• Assist with software licensing, version management, and the integration of new tools.

• Evaluate and refine drawing setup, sheet standards, and file organization as necessary.

• Monitor CAD system utilization and suggest enhancements to elevate team efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• An associate degree in Computer-Aided Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a similar technical field is preferred.

• A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in a CAD technical lead role or in lead support capacities.

• Experience in supporting substation, utility, or infrastructure design projects is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency in CAD software and related drafting tools utilized in technical design settings.

• Solid understanding of drafting standards, design documentation practices, and quality control measures.

• Proven ability to lead CAD production initiatives, coordinate tasks among project teams, and manage schedules and deliverables effectively.

• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and capability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams.

• Capacity to mentor and assist junior CAD personnel while promoting consistent drafting standards and best practices.

• Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will also be considered, including experience in CAD drafting, CAD leadership, substation or utility design, infrastructure projects, or closely related technical design support roles.
