CAD Drafter – Builder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Prepare and review calculations and staking drawings for residential construction projects, such as houses, additions, subdivisions, dirt work, and as-built surveys.

• Evaluate foundation closures, including square, rotation, and setbacks.

• Assess and incorporate interior walls into slabs based on client staking requests.

• Conduct calculations and create Plot & Drive staking drawings.

• Outline property boundaries and adjust them according to aerial imagery.

• Calculate search points for property corners, foundation offsets, and proposed foundations.

• Position houses according to third-party site plans.

• Generate calculations and drawings for additions.

• Develop master staking drawings for new subdivisions.

• Compare recorded plats with CAD files to identify discrepancies.

• Add centerline control, label recorded plats, and upload finalized files into STARS.

• Create separate surfaces for the calculation of dirt quantities.

• Prepare and distribute finalized dirt calculations to designated client contacts.

• Create closing as-builts for Rockford using its specialized title block and workflow.

• Operate under the supervision of the Drafting Manager.

• Oversee multiple projects and adhere to deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in CAD drafting and/or surveying calculations.

• Ability to read and interpret site plans, construction plans, and recorded plats.

• Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Skill in identifying discrepancies between drawings, plats, and field information.

• Capability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

• Willingness to learn client-specific procedures and software.

• Experience in construction surveying, land surveying, civil engineering, or residential construction is advantageous.

• Minimum of a high school diploma/GED required.

• An Associate’s/Technical Degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 4 years of relevant professional drafting experience in the surveying industry.

• Practical CAD experience.

• Demonstrated professional skills, including proficiency in Civil 3D and surveying experience.

• Ability to communicate and respond to inquiries in a professional and knowledgeable manner.

• Proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player.

• Positive, adaptable, and committed to client service with a can-do attitude; able to remain calm under pressure and quick on your feet.

• Ability to balance workload effectively to meet job demands and exceed client expectations.

• Proficient in the independent application and use of job-related software, e-technology, and cloud-based solutions.

• Preferably located in Eastern or Central time zones.
