Business Systems Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collect and document business requirements from stakeholders.

• Evaluate business processes and pinpoint areas for enhancement.

• Convert business requirements into functional and technical specifications.

• Analyze data from databases, applications, and business systems.

• Develop and refine SQL queries to extract and verify data.

• Generate data mappings, data dictionaries, and process documentation.

• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and database teams to implement solutions.

• Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and quality assessments.

• Assist with data integration, migration, and transformation initiatives.

• Produce reports, dashboards, and data visualizations as required.

• Investigate data/system issues and perform root-cause analysis.

• Create test cases and engage in system, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

• Document workflows, business rules, system requirements, and modifications.

• Communicate findings and suggestions to both business and technical stakeholders.

• Provide support for production systems and resolve issues post-implementation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.

• Approximately 2–5+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, or a comparable role, depending on the position.

• Proven experience collaborating with both business users and technical teams.

• Proficiency in SQL.

• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

• Proficient in Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.

• Familiarity with business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau.

• Understanding of data warehouses, ETL/ELT, APIs, and data integration.

• Knowledge of data modeling and database concepts.

• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.

• Understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Skills in requirements gathering and analysis.

• Competence in conducting stakeholder interviews and effective communication.

• Experience in business process modeling.

• Development of functional requirements and user stories.

• Proficiency in process mapping and workflow analysis.

• Conducting gap analysis.

• Planning and executing UAT.

• Strong documentation and presentation skills.

• Basic programming or scripting knowledge, such as Python, can be advantageous.
