This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Create and manage a targeted list of around 30-50 potential accounts within a specific industry vertical.
• Establish new client relationships and generate qualified opportunities within the designated sector.
• Conduct at least two client-facing meetings each week, meeting in person whenever geographical conditions permit.
• Build a presence in the assigned industry by attending approximately 2-5 relevant conferences, trade associations, networking events, or other industry forums each month.
• Lead initial discovery discussions to ascertain prospective clients’ needs regarding program, portfolio, project management, and execution.
• Identify opportunities for MustardSeed’s consulting capabilities to provide value.
• Collaborate with delivery and PMO leadership teams to define potential engagements and convert client needs into proposals, statements of work, and commercial solutions.
• Manage the commercial process from the initial opportunity to closure, including NDAs, proposals, rate cards, SOWs, MSAs, and commercial negotiations.
• Keep account information up-to-date and accurate in HubSpot.
• Transition new clients to the Client Success team at a mutually agreed-upon stage, ensuring a seamless and effective handoff.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO, U.S. and U.K. leadership, PMO Leaders, and delivery teams to identify opportunities, shape solutions, and onboard new clients into the organization.
• Achieve success metrics such as qualified first meetings, new-logo opportunities, pipeline coverage and progression, and quality of handoff to Client Success.
• A minimum of 3+ years of successfully meeting individual sales or bookings targets.
• At least 6+ years of overall relevant experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects or programs prior to, or concurrently with, moving into business development.
• Experience in selling consulting, professional services, or other complex service-based offerings.
• Strong comprehension of the economics of professional services, including utilization, rate structures, scope management, and project profitability.
• A proven history of new-business development; this should not be the candidate's first role in business development.
• An established network of active industry contacts within a pertinent vertical.
• Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both executive-level stakeholders and operational or site-level leaders.
• Strong organizational skills along with disciplined CRM and pipeline management.
• Experience selling embedded consulting teams, managed services, FSP-style resource models, or project-based professional services is preferred.
• PMP, CAPM, or similar project management background or certification is preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 60%, depending on the assigned industry vertical, geography, client needs, and industry events.
• Must reside in the United States.
