Business Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Facilitate discovery sessions to gain insights into business outcomes, existing processes, challenges, and the desired future capabilities.

• Employ process mapping, user journeys, personas, business rules analysis, use cases, and workflow modeling to extract comprehensive requirements.

• Identify gaps, assumptions, dependencies, edge cases, and impacts across personnel, processes, data, and technology.

• Support AI-driven business solutions by defining user interactions, the impacts on processes, governance considerations, business rules, and success metrics.

• Convert ambiguous business requests into detailed functional and non-functional requirements.

• Formalize requirements into comprehensive user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Drive requirements to a state ready for implementation with minimal downstream clarification.

• Ensure requirements are thorough, traceable, testable, and aligned with business objectives.

• Take ownership of the work from requirements through to implementation.

• Develop implementation plans and manage the prioritization of the product backlog.

• Lead sprint planning, refinement, demos, retrospectives, testing, and releases as appropriate.

• Maintain RAID items, dependencies, milestones, and delivery plans.

• Identify issues early and proactively drive towards resolution.

• Keep stakeholders updated through clear, fact-based status reports.

• Collaborate directly with senior business, HR, analytics, data, and technology stakeholders.

• Challenge assumptions and constructively push back on unrealistic requirements, priorities, or timelines.

• Manage competing priorities and guide stakeholders towards decisions.

• Communicate risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and impacts effectively.

• Work independently with minimal management oversight.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in business analysis within a matrixed environment.

• Strong expertise in business analysis.

• Experience in participating in or leading requirement exercises.

• Previous experience with AI-related projects and solutions.

• Proven ability to manage activities and deliverables during the requirements phase.

• Exceptional skills in requirements gathering and analytical problem-solving.

• Strong Agile delivery discipline, including backlogs, user stories, sprint planning, prioritization, testing, and releases.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with challenging stakeholders and manage competing priorities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to operate effectively within a complex, fast-paced, matrixed organization.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO).

• Familiarity with process decomposition exercises.

• Preferred: Experience serving as a stakeholder in enterprise HR functions.

• Preferred: Strong understanding of HR processes and functions.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with global organizations and cross-functional teams.

• Preferred: Agile/Scrum or project management certification.

• Preferred: Strong understanding of how AI can address business challenges and opportunities.

• Preferred: Experience in AI-focused projects and programs from a requirements capture and testing perspective.

• Preferred: Ability to utilize generative AI tools to support requirements and testing activities.
