Burmese Translator – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Produce high-quality Burmese translations of analytical reports and other analytical materials created by the Myanmar Witness investigative team regarding conflict incidents and trends in Myanmar.

• Translate content between English and Burmese, as well as the reverse.

• Adapt and translate website content, visual assets, infographics, presentations, reports, training resources, and multimedia materials.

• Collaborate with the Investigations Manager/Editor, Project Coordinator, and Social Media and Website Manager to comprehend translation requirements and deadlines.

• Upload Burmese versions of analytical reports to the CIR website while ensuring proper formatting.

• Offer ad hoc translation assistance for website content and other project-related materials.

• Consult with investigators and Social Media Team members to clarify content ambiguities and guarantee precise translations.

• Collaborate with the project team to review translations for consistency with the Burmese context.

• Report to the Social Media and Website Manager and Project Coordinator, raise concerns, and provide updates on progress.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Burmese (Myanmar Language).

• Proven experience in Burmese translations.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and PDF editing software.

• Previous experience in translating research related to conflict trends and incidents in Myanmar and/or Southeast Asia.

• Experience in website management, particularly in content uploading (highly desirable).

• Demonstrated experience in supporting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) operating within the Myanmar context (highly desirable).
