Board Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Attend and engage in all scheduled board meetings regularly.

• Uphold the mission, values, and dedication to progressive, sustainability-oriented education at Compass.

• Ensure confidentiality regarding discussions held in executive sessions.

• Promptly disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse oneself when necessary.

• Complete all mandatory board training requirements.

• Act in the best interest of Compass students and the broader school community.

• Voting members possess complete governance authority and fiduciary responsibilities.

• Participate in the nomination, application, vetting, board voting, and NYSED approval procedures.

• Meet with at least two current board members and the School Leader.

• Assist in submitting the necessary candidate materials to NYSED.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding executive session discussions.

• Completion of all required board training.

• Voting members must receive NYSED approval prior to appointment.

• Voting candidates are required to submit a resume and documentation of their highest level of education to NYSED.

• Voting candidates must fill out a Background Information Form, Statement of Assurance, and Disclosure of Financial Interest form.

• Voting candidates must undergo a criminal history record check through fingerprinting.

• Voting candidates must have their credentials verified.
