Biology Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Assess and analyze AI-generated responses to life-sciences inquiries for scientific validity, clarity, and relevance.

• Annotate and rank model outputs to facilitate AI training and enhancement.

• Craft expert-level responses to scientific queries as training examples for the model.

• Identify errors, misconceptions, or vague outputs and offer corrective suggestions.

• Design and create realistic research-based tasks, including scenarios, prompts, supporting documents, and comprehensive grading rubrics.

• Execute tasks using AI models and refine based on feedback from expert reviewers.

• Adhere strictly to written instructions, including document and upload format specifications.

• Maintain consistent quality and productivity throughout the 12-week sprint engagement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's or PhD (or current PhD candidate) in Biology or a closely related field.

• Over 3 years of practical experience in drug discovery, computational biology/bioinformatics, or experimental biology.

• Excellent written communication abilities; capable of articulating complex concepts clearly and succinctly.

• Comfortable working autonomously in a remote, self-directed setting.

• Quick to adapt to unfamiliar tasks when provided with written resources or instructions.

• Recent or current hands-on individual-contributor experience, rather than purely managerial roles.

• Careful attention to written instructions and openness to feedback and revision processes.

• Ability to navigate a company data package ranging from 100MB to over 30GB and develop a thorough, accurate understanding rapidly.

• Basic technical literacy with cloud file tools, browser profiles, desktop application installation, and routine file management.

• Willingness to commit 30–40+ hours per week for the entire 12-week engagement.

• General knowledge of LLM applications and the AI landscape.

• Professional experience with LLMs such as ChatGPT or Claude in the life sciences sector.

• Skill in discerning well-reasoned responses from plausible yet incorrect answers.

• Knowledge in biology, oncology, drug discovery, computational biology, experimental biology, artificial intelligence, data entry, biochemistry, research and development, molecular biology, data analysis, chemistry, and cell biology.
