Bioinformatics Application Scientist, NGS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as a technical application scientist directly engaging with customers and serving as a bridge between them and Twist Bioscience.

• Assist in both pre-sales and post-sales efforts as well as market development for Twist’s NGS target enrichment offerings.

• Articulate scientific and technical challenges alongside solutions utilizing custom NGS panels.

• Design and assist in the development of custom NGS panels following an established design workflow.

• Offer bioinformatics support for NGS data analysis, troubleshooting, proof-of-concept experiments, and inquiries related to the pipeline.

• Aid sales teams by participating in technical discussions, delivering presentations, and attending customer meetings.

• Provide technical expertise on experiments that involve Twist products.

• Keep abreast of advancements in genomic research and field developments.

• Coordinate with customers, Sales, Product Management, R&D, and Production departments.

• Foster customer collaborations and relay customer requirements to Product Marketing.

• Travel locally and regionally, about 10% of the time.

• Adhere to relevant QMS/ISMS standards as well as regulatory and customer requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A PhD in Bioinformatics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of biotech/commercial experience in Genomics, or a BS/MS in one of these fields combined with over 7 years of biotech/commercial experience in Genomics.

• In-depth technical understanding of NGS applications and the bioinformatics necessary for NGS data analysis, including Whole Exome Sequencing, RNA-seq, and Methylation.

• Proficient in using tools such as BWA, GATK, IGV, UCSC, SAMtools, Picard, and bedtools.

• Experience operating in a Linux environment and utilizing command line applications.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong work ethic.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Compliance with regulatory standards and ISO 13485 requirements.
