This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Ensure that providers accurately submit bills to health insurance or automobile (MedPay) insurance in a timely manner.
• Guarantee that appropriate insurance carriers process provider bills promptly.
• Verify provider balances to facilitate the swift distribution of settlement funds to clients.
• Participate in firm-wide huddles every Monday at 8:00 AM and daily team mini huddles from Tuesday to Friday at 8:00 AM.
• Attend biweekly meetings with the Team Lead, equipped with supporting data, to review individual metrics and set biweekly goals.
• Initiate all subrogation claims within 14 days of the signed retainer.
• Provide Med Pay and Health Insurance information to treating providers within designated timelines.
• Request final health insurance and Med Pay ledgers upon completion of treatment.
• Confirm outstanding medical balances when cases transition into negotiations and post-settlement.
• Maintain a biweekly activity level of 1,000 or more in SmartAdvocate, ensuring overdue tasks remain below 60.
• Follow up with providers to confirm that bills are submitted to the correct carrier.
• Keep accurate records of bills, payments, adjustments, and balances to aid in discount negotiations.
• Coordinate benefits that involve Med Pay, health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Benefits, and other federal and state programs.
• Open claims and submit documentation for Medicare and Tricare benefits.
• Oversee the client's Medicare portal.
• Handle incoming calls through the First Call Group.
• Monitor dashboard metrics/KPIs and adhere to firm policies and procedures.
• Report directly to the Settlement Department Team Lead, with secondary reporting to the Settlement Director.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in billing, collections, accounts receivable/payable, bookkeeping, or legal settings.
• Experience with reading or reconciling invoices, statements, or ledgers is an advantage.
• Familiarity with insurance terminology (EOBs, claims, co-pays) is beneficial.
• Comfort with numbers, invoices, or basic bookkeeping practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong advocacy for clients, particularly against aggressive insurance representatives or medical providers.
