Billing Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Ensure the accuracy of data and enter information into the designated computer billing system.

• Enter new data and update existing entries within the computer billing system.

• Address inquiries from patients and interested parties regarding insurance, credit, and related matters.

• Review and dispatch monthly statements for private pay, commercial accounts, compensation, and problematic Blue Cross and Champus accounts.

• Submit electronic claims when available.

• Conduct follow-ups on litigation cases.

• Upload necessary patient documents into the electronic medical record.

• Communicate with physicians and referral sources to obtain documentation and authorizations required for billing services.

• Examine accounts receivable statements for Munson Home Medical Equipment.

• Record comments, bill insurance, process payments, coordinate refunds, issue statements, and conduct collection calls.

• Refer uncollectible accounts to a collection agency.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma required.

• Associate’s degree in business is preferred.

• Additional education in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management is mandatory.

• A minimum of three years of experience in a hospital or related field is required.

• Demonstrated above-average math skills are essential.

• Proven analytical abilities are necessary.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

• Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.

• Must be vaccinated or possess lab-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella.

• Must obtain a flu vaccine during the flu season of the year of hiring and annually thereafter, or have an approved medical or religious exemption.
