Billing Operations Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Analyze billing, collections, and operational data to uncover trends, discrepancies, and the underlying causes of denials, short pays, and SLA-related concerns.

• Develop and sustain dashboards, aging reports, and performance metrics for leadership's review.

• Conduct audits of wholesale invoices to ensure accuracy, covering aspects such as volume, modality, contract rates, CPT/HCPCS coding, and performance guarantees.

• Monitor SLA performance and assess the financial implications of missed SLAs.

• Keep comprehensive documentation within billing systems, detailing claim status, escalation paths, and resolution notes.

• Generate ad hoc reports for operations, sales, finance, and revenue cycle leadership.

• Assist in the month-end closing process through data validation, payment reconciliation, and variance analysis.

• Drive process improvement initiatives within Wholesale billing to minimize errors, shorten cycle times, and enhance data quality.

• Suggest workflow enhancements, automation possibilities, and documentation improvements.

• Aid in system enhancements, contract audits, and revenue cycle optimization projects.

• Review billing inputs and outputs prior to submission to commercial clients, hospitals, radiology groups, and medical facilities.

• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, underpayments, short pays, and contract variances.

• Assist with accounts receivable follow-up for commercial clients, including payment collection, dispute resolution, and recommendations for credits/adjustments.

• Collaborate with field operations, sales, and contract teams to confirm service delivery and address disputes.

• Provide customer service to clients regarding inquiries about invoices, contract terms, and billing corrections.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.

• 1–4 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivables, revenue cycle, or healthcare financial operations.

• Strong analytical skills with the capacity to interpret financial data, billing reports, CPT/HCPCS codes, and contract terms.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) and familiarity with billing/ERP systems.

• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and the capability to identify patterns or anomalies in large datasets.

• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to manage escalated client inquiries in a professional manner.

• Ability to perform calculations related to discounts, adjustments, percentages, and contract-based pricing.

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

• Experience in radiology, imaging, or mobile healthcare billing (MRI/CT/PET) is preferred.

• Familiarity with commercial hospital/health system contracts, SLAs, and volume-based pricing is preferred.

• Experience with revenue cycle software (Epic, Cerner, or similar) is preferred.

• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance is preferred.

• Prior experience in process improvement, workflow redesign, or data automation is preferred.
