Billing and Coding Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Input payments into an EMR system and create invoices for patients.

• Precisely code medical claims and submit them electronically to insurance providers on a daily basis.

• Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls.

• Verify insurance coverage and provide assistance to patients regarding their insurance inquiries.

• Handle aged receivables for both patients and insurance companies.

• Collect, post, and oversee payments from patient accounts.

• Prepare and review statements for patients.

• Import and reconcile electronic funds transfers (EFTs).

• Identify and rectify any rejected claims.

• Review overdue accounts and reach out to patients for collection efforts.

• Process payments received from insurance entities.

• Follow up on claims that have been accepted or denied.

• Review and contest unpaid or denied claims.

• Assess medical record documents to ensure correct CPT and ICD-10 coding.

• Obtain precertification for specific procedures when necessary.

• Investigate and report any suspected insurance fraud.

⛳️ Requirements

• Official High School Transcripts, Diploma, or Equivalency Certificate.

• Capability to navigate between various tabs and systems on a computer while handling phone calls.

• CPB or other Medical Billing Certification preferred but not mandatory.

• CPC or Medical Coding Certification preferred but not mandatory.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to multitask effectively.

• General understanding of insurance terminology.

• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff members.

• Must reside in Illinois or Florida.

• Must have a designated workspace within your home.

• Must pass a Wi-Fi speed test.
