Billing and Coding Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Input payments into an EMR system

• Create invoices to be dispatched to patients

• Precisely code medical claims and electronically submit them to insurance providers on a daily basis

• Manage incoming and outgoing calls

• Confirm insurance coverage

• Assist patients with inquiries regarding insurance

• Oversee patient and insurance aged receivables

• Collect, record, and manage patient account payments

• Prepare and review statements for patients

• Import and reconcile EFTs

• Identify and rectify rejected claims

• Review overdue accounts and reach out to patients for collection

• Process payments received from insurance companies

• Follow up to ascertain if claims are approved or denied

• Review and contest unpaid or denied claims

• Assess medical record documentation to ensure correct CPT and ICD-10 coding

• Obtain precertification for certain procedures when necessary

• Investigate and report any suspected insurance fraud

⛳️ Requirements

• Applicants must reside in Alabama

• Official High School Transcripts, Diploma, or Equivalency Certificate required

• Capability to navigate various tabs and systems on the computer while handling phone calls

• CPB or other Medical Billing Certification preferred, but not mandatory

• CPC or Medical Coding Certification preferred, but not mandatory

• Exceptional Attention to Detail

• Ability to Multitask effectively

• Basic Understanding of Insurance Terminology

• Proficient Communication Skills with Patients and Staff

• Must have a designated workspace at home

• Must successfully pass a Wi-Fi speed test
