This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Accurately and promptly process payroll for over 600 employees across various locations and shifts.
• Review, validate, and input payroll information, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, promotions, overtime, bonuses, taxable benefits, leaves of absence, and payroll corrections.
• Oversee timesheets and payroll transactions to detect discrepancies and ensure completeness and accuracy of payroll data.
• Interpret and implement federal and provincial payroll laws, employment standards, company policies, and payroll procedures.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including the preparation and reconciliation of T4s, T4As, RL-1s, Records of Employment (ROEs), and other statutory reports.
• Aid in the preparation, reconciliation, and submission of Workers' Compensation reports and Employer Health Tax filings across various Canadian jurisdictions.
• Support payroll system updates, testing, ongoing improvement initiatives, projects, and process enhancements.
• Maintain payroll procedures and documentation.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, managers, and employees to investigate and resolve payroll inquiries and discrepancies.
• Deliver prompt and professional customer service for payroll-related questions.
• Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Payroll Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is mandatory.
• 2-5 years of payroll processing experience in a high-volume payroll setting.
• Experience with Canadian payroll processing is essential.
• Familiarity with Canadian payroll laws, CRA requirements, provincial employment standards, and multi-jurisdictional payroll regulations across Canadian provinces.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Capability to manage competing deadlines and work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service focus and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive employee information.
• Proven ability to work independently while positively contributing as a team member.
• Experience with U.S. payroll processing is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with Workday or another enterprise HRIS/payroll system is an advantage.
• National Payroll Institute Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is preferred; candidates actively pursuing PCP certification will also be considered.
