This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Receive and assess complaints along with initial details to develop a clear understanding of the situation requiring investigation.
• Identify the issues at hand and create a detailed plan to investigate the complaint or report thoroughly.
• Conduct investigations pertaining to complaints and reports.
• Determine the necessary techniques to execute thorough and objective investigations.
• Locate, gather, and analyze relevant information and documentation related to the investigation.
• Identify discrepancies and gaps in the information provided.
• Conduct telephone interviews with key witnesses and prepare summaries of these interviews.
• Document all verbal communications regarding the investigation.
• Investigate to identify witnesses and gather additional information essential to the investigation.
• Prepare the necessary documentation to obtain information and record investigative findings.
• Organize and compile investigation files systematically.
• Provide testimony concerning investigative content or processes during disciplinary hearings.
• A two- or three-year college diploma.
• Bilingual in French and English (CEFR C1 level) is required.
• One to three years of experience in the regulatory sector or in early childhood education.
• Familiarity with investigative techniques to facilitate effective information gathering.
• Understanding of the early childhood education sector and professional regulation.
• Knowledge of legal and administrative principles.
• Acquainted with the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007, and the College's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
• Strong judgment and analytical skills to assess risks and identify relevant issues.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written communication skills for creating clear, detailed, and accurate investigative documents.
• Active listening, oral communication, and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders (e.g., courts, police, complainants, employers).
• Resilience, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with individuals who may be distressed or frustrated regarding sensitive issues.
• Professional judgment to ensure that disclosed information is appropriate and to maintain neutrality in all handled cases and matters.
• Attention to detail for preparing accurate summaries of investigation files, along with strong time-management skills.
• Flexible work arrangement (remote and on-site).
