This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies, roadmaps, and operational models across the organization.
• Specify roles and responsibilities for data owners, data stewards, and other essential stakeholders.
• Create decision-making and governance processes that span multiple business units and affiliated companies.
• Establish frameworks that balance effective data usage with governance and risk management considerations.
• Identify opportunities to harness data in line with business requirements and assist with implementation.
• Advocate for data standardization, metadata management, data catalogs, and master data management practices.
• Define metrics for data quality and set up monitoring, visualization, and continuous improvement processes.
• Enhance data discoverability, accessibility, and usability throughout the organization.
• Formulate policies regarding data quality, access control, privacy, and accountability for AI and Generative AI applications.
• Design governance processes that foster innovation while managing data and AI-related risks.
• Collaborate with both business and technical teams to align emerging technologies and AI applications with business value.
• Create policies for data usage, consent management, and data lifecycle that comply with relevant privacy regulations.
• Work with legal, security, and business teams to conduct data-related risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support audits and establish internal guidelines and governance standards.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives that involve management, business, planning, engineering, legal, and security stakeholders.
• Promote education and awareness about data governance and responsible data practices.
• Assist in fostering a company-wide culture centered on data-driven decision-making.
• Identify operational challenges and continuously refine governance processes.
• Professional experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Platforms.
• Experience in planning and executing cross-functional projects that engage both business and technical stakeholders.
• Strong skills in stakeholder management, communication, and coordination.
• Familiarity with data quality, data standardization, metadata management, or related practices in data management.
• Ability to work proactively, recognize organizational challenges, and drive initiatives independently.
• Proficiency in Japanese at a business level.
• Knowledge or practical experience with DAMA-DMBOK, CDMP, or similar data management frameworks.
• Experience in establishing or managing data owner/data steward models or data governance organizations.
• Understanding of privacy regulations, consent management, information security, and data protection principles.
• Experience working with healthcare data or managing data across various services or group companies.
• Experience in implementing or operating data catalogs, Master Data Management (MDM), or data quality management tools.
• Knowledge or experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, or other contemporary data platforms.
• Experience in designing or managing AI/Generative AI governance frameworks.
• Experience communicating in English within a professional environment.
