This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Conduct interviews with applicants and recipients utilizing adaptive techniques.
• Assess eligibility and benefit levels through automated systems and manual methods.
• Manage applications for SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, Energy, General Relief, Auxiliary Grants, Refugee Cash, and Medical Assistance.
• Analyze information and policies to determine and reassess ongoing eligibility.
• Compute income and resource eligibility according to state and federal guidelines.
• Provide explanations about benefit programs, rights, responsibilities, agency services, and community resources.
• Identify social issues and refer clients to social workers as necessary.
• Research, interpret, and apply mandated program policies and procedures effectively.
• Maintain accurate records and caseload integrity; pinpoint errors and potential fraud.
• Evaluate data consistency and verify accuracy as required.
• Address appeals, create appeal summaries and supporting documentation, and participate in hearings.
• Engage in unit and agency meetings, workgroups, teams, training, and learning opportunities.
• Suggest internal policy and procedure modifications.
• Execute related tasks as needed.
• High school diploma complemented by additional training and relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• General understanding of interviewing, time management, and public social service organizations.
• Knowledge of social, economic, and health issues along with human behavior/social functioning.
• Proficiency in mathematics, including percentages, formulas, and averages.
• Skills in interviewing, data collection, and investigative techniques.
• Ability to analyze policy and identify missing information and gaps.
• Capability to access data such as estates, retirement accounts, and real estate.
• Adherence to professional confidentiality ethics.
• Proficient in computer and software applications.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective in building relationships with clients, coworkers, management, and the public.
• Possess sound judgment, discretion, tact, and resourcefulness.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Capable of preparing clear and concise reports.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
• Must reside within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Must have a valid driver's license and meet the County’s safe driver policy eligibility requirements.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for overnight assignments.
• May be subject to criminal history and central registry background checks.
• Submission of a cover letter, resume, and three references is required.
