Bankruptcy Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee a statewide bankruptcy caseload from initiation to resolution

• Draft and submit motions, pleadings, Proofs of Claim, Payment Change Notices, and other essential documents

• Perform Chapter 13 Plan Reviews and formulate objections to plans when necessary

• Participate in both virtual and in-person court hearings

• Act as a liaison among the firm, clients, courts, trustees, and external counsel

• Manage time-sensitive escalations effectively

• Ensure that client systems are consistently and accurately updated

• Tackle complex legal challenges for clients in the financial sector

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law institution

• Active membership in the New York Bar in good standing is mandatory

• Minimum of three (3+) years of experience in Bankruptcy law is preferred but not essential, including exposure to Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13, and plan confirmation

• Comfortable working in high-volume, deadline-oriented environments

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

• Willingness to travel as necessary for hearings and other court appearances

• Dedication to upholding ethical standards and ensuring client confidentiality

• Pre-employment screenings and verification of work eligibility in the United States

• Reference checks may be required based on the position

• Bonus: Experience in real estate, mortgage, or commercial litigation; familiarity with FDCPA, RESPA, or TILA; or a background in foreclosure law
