This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Successfully complete a 6–7 week comprehensive full-time training program for Investigators to achieve certification in Federal Investigative Standards.
• Engage in daily travel to perform in-person background investigations to assess employment suitability for individuals seeking access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.
• Arrange and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family members.
• Execute record searches at police departments, courthouses, educational institutions, financial organizations, and medical/mental health facilities.
• Clearly and concisely document collected information using a government-issued computer system.
• Work autonomously while also collaborating as part of a team of Investigators and coordinating with a Field Manager.
• A minimum of 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree may be acceptable.
• Prior experience in conducting federal background investigations is preferred.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Daily local and out-of-area travel may be necessary as required.
• A home office setup is required.
• Temporary Duty Assignments or remote travel lasting 14–30 days away from home may be necessary.
• Candidates must reside within 20 miles of the Chantilly city center.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for full-time use are mandatory.
• Driving is a key job function; Motor Vehicle Records may be subject to review.
• Sufficient motor vehicle insurance is required.
• Must possess accurate and efficient typing skills; 40+ words per minute is recommended.
• Capability to operate multiple computer programs simultaneously is essential.
• Ability to speak for extended periods and effectively hear for in-person and telephone communication.
• Proficiency in recording, reading, and transcribing words and numbers accurately is required.
• Strong grammar and writing skills are necessary for producing high-quality reports.
• Professional interaction skills, punctuality, attention to detail, confidentiality, ethics, and integrity are critical.
• Professional attire is required at all times.
• Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for prolonged periods, and drive in adverse or nighttime conditions.
• Must work effectively with diverse individuals and personalities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment under remote supervision.
• Strong organizational, scheduling, prioritization, writing, and communication skills are essential.
• Relocation assistance is not available.
• This is a full-time employee position.
• Participate in 6–7 weeks of new Investigator training, available both virtually and in person.
• Home office arrangements are provided.
