Background Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Successfully complete a comprehensive full-time training program for new Investigators, lasting 6–7 weeks, both virtually and in person.

• Execute in-person background investigations to assess the employment suitability of individuals who require access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.

• Engage in daily travel while performing investigations.

• Arrange and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family members.

• Carry out record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational institutions, financial organizations, and medical/mental health facilities.

• Clearly and concisely document gathered information using a government-issued computer system.

• Function independently as part of an Investigator team, collaborating with a Field Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates with four years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree may be considered for this position.

• Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Local travel and travel outside the primary work area may be necessary on a daily basis.

• A home office setup is required.

• Temporary Duty Assignments/remote travel lasting between 14–30 days away from home may be necessary.

• Candidates must reside within 25 miles of the Ocala city center.

• A valid driver's license and consistent access to reliable transportation are mandatory.

• Must hold sufficient motor vehicle insurance.

• Accurate and efficient typing abilities are necessary; a typing speed of 40+ WPM is recommended.

• Capability to work with multiple computer programs simultaneously is essential.

• Ability to speak, hear, record, read, and transcribe information accurately is required.

• Strong grammar and writing skills are mandatory.

• Professional interaction, consistent attendance, punctuality, meticulous attention to detail, confidentiality, ethics, and integrity are expected.

• Professional attire is required.

• Must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for extended periods, and drive under adverse or nighttime conditions.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment under remote supervision is essential.

• Excellent organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills are necessary.

• Proficient writing and communication skills are required.
