Background Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Successfully complete a full-time, 6–7 week training program for new Investigators, offered both virtually and in person.

• Perform in-person federal background investigations to assess the employment suitability of individuals needing access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.

• Engage in daily travel while executing investigations.

• Organize and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family members.

• Execute record searches at various institutions, including police agencies, courthouses, educational and financial organizations, as well as medical and mental health facilities.

• Clearly and concisely document the information gathered using a government-issued computer system.

• Operate independently while collaborating as part of a team of Investigators and working alongside a Field Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of general work experience, or a bachelor’s degree may be accepted.

• Prior experience in conducting federal background investigations is preferred.

• Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret eligible clearance.

• An active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication is preferred.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Willingness to engage in daily local travel and travel beyond the primary work area as necessary.

• A home office setup is mandatory.

• Temporary Duty Assignments or remote travel for 14–30 days away from home may be required.

• Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Jack city center.

• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for full-time use are needed.

• Adequate motor vehicle insurance is required.

• Proficiency in typing with accuracy and efficiency; a typing speed of 40+ WPM is recommended.

• Ability to utilize multiple computer programs simultaneously.

• Capacity to speak for extended periods and hear adequately for in-person and telephone communication.

• Skills to accurately record, read, and transcribe words and numbers.

• Strong grammar and writing abilities are necessary.

• Must meet attendance and punctuality expectations while maintaining attention to detail.

• High standards of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity are essential.

• Professional attire is required.

• Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for long durations, and drive in adverse or nighttime conditions.

• Capability to interact professionally with diverse individuals and personalities.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment under remote supervision.

• Excellent organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills are required.

• Strong writing and communication abilities are essential.
