Backend Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Guide the team through various workstreams, ensuring exceptional delivery and effective execution during each sprint.

• Manage sprint planning, which includes prioritizing tasks, capacity planning, and ensuring alignment on sprint objectives and outcomes.

• Serve as the main liaison between the team and other departments, eliminating obstacles and overseeing cross-team dependencies.

• Enhance team velocity and individual skills through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and recognizing skill gaps.

• Spearhead the technical design of scalable, reliable, and maintainable features and solutions.

• Engage directly in high-scale, cloud-based development utilizing Node.js, AWS, and MongoDB.

• Conduct code reviews while promoting best practices in architecture, maintainability, performance, and engineering quality.

• Collaborate with Product Managers from feature conception and technical design through to development, release, and production.

• Participate in technical discussions with customers regarding requirements, challenges, integrations, and product insights.

• Act as the technical point of contact for the domain and manage communications with internal Customer Success teams.

• Facilitate technical discussions and decisions regarding product enhancements, new features, and planning.

• Incorporate AI tools and workflows into development processes, including AI-assisted coding, automated testing, and prompt-driven prototyping.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of practical software development experience.

• 3 to 5 years in a technical leadership or Team Lead position.

• Extensive hands-on knowledge of Node.js — essential.

• Strong expertise with AWS — essential.

• Familiarity with React — preferred.

• Experience with Python — advantageous.

• Background in working with MongoDB.

• Significant experience in designing and constructing scalable backend systems.

• Proven record of managing technical execution across multiple workstreams.

• Solid understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability, and principles of clean code.

• Experience in delivering comprehensive features and projects from design to production.

• Background in a fast-paced product environment.

• Strong ownership mentality and capability to independently make technical decisions.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Experience leading or collaborating with global or distributed teams.

• Capability to articulate complex technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience engaging in customer-facing technical discussions.
