This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +3 more countries.
• Lead Yazio's Backend Team that is responsible for the API and AI functionalities within the application.
• Take ownership of team rituals such as stand-ups, refinements, sprint planning, retrospectives, and bi-weekly written updates.
• Enhance the team's operational efficiency.
• Foster relationships with squad leads and product managers to ensure that backend tasks are integrated into squad plans.
• Manage the team's quarterly OKR roadmap and maintain visibility of progress for dependent teams.
• Provide support to engineers through one-on-ones, development objectives, and timely feedback.
• Proactively address accountability issues.
• Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to recruit new team members.
• Oversee production issues and outages, directing them to the appropriate personnel and ensuring resolutions are achieved.
• Work closely with product squads such as Monetization, Growth, Tracking Experience, Mobile Platform, Web, Internal Tools, and CRM.
• Proven experience in leading an engineering team with direct reports.
• Experience in guiding a team to embrace new responsibilities or modify its operational approach.
• Several years of experience as a senior backend engineer.
• Proficiency in discussing system design, infrastructure, and technical trade-offs.
• Capability to coach engineers in decision-making and managing stakeholder discussions.
• Strong, friendly communication skills and composure under pressure, particularly during outages.
• Ability to forge robust relationships with leads and stakeholders.
• A strong product-oriented mindset.
• Experience in leading a team that supports multiple product squads simultaneously is a plus.
• Background in high-traffic consumer products is an advantage.
• Familiarity with backend engineers embedded within product squads is a bonus.
• Experience in steering a business using KPIs and conducting A/B tests is a plus.
• Proficient in English as the company language.
