Backend Engineer, Core APIs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance backend systems for real-time data processing and web services.

• Integrate backend components with various services to guarantee optimal performance and scalability.

• Analyze problematic features, identify root causes, conduct experiments, and convert findings into engineering enhancements.

• Execute performance tuning, debugging, and testing of backend systems.

• Share best engineering practices and collaborate on cross-functional projects.

• Engage in a shared on-call rotation.

• Mentor junior developers.

• Take ownership of features from concept to final deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 2 years of experience in backend development.

• Strong, proven expertise in GoLang and/or Node.js, with a willingness to learn.

• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems.

• Proficient in building and optimizing APIs, real-time data processing systems, and microservices architectures.

• Solid understanding of SQL and experience with DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.

• Proficiency with Git, IDEs, shell scripting, and CI/CD practices.

• Fluent in English for effective communication within a global, remote team.

• Capable of working independently while also being an effective team collaborator.

• Must be authorized to work from the home location.

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience (preferred).

• Familiarity with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation (preferred).

• Experience with TypeScript, Express, ClickHouse, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks (preferred).

• Knowledge of Datadog or other monitoring and logging platforms (preferred).

• Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes (preferred).

• Experience with large open-source projects and asynchronous collaboration across a global team (preferred).

• Familiarity with both Node.js and Go in a backend context (preferred).

• Understanding of internet security and privacy mechanisms (preferred).
