Backend Engineer – Billing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Become a member of the Billing team and play a key role in Billing v2, a comprehensive revamp and expansion of our subscription infrastructure.

• Design and implement the core Products & Prices domain model along with public APIs from the ground up.

• Create precise volume and graduated pricing engines tailored for multi-tier enterprise billing.

• Separate essential services from the Products API to remove single points of failure.

• Spearhead the development of the automated retry engine to manage all invoices and recover failed payments.

• Build and introduce the new Billing 2.0 module nearly from scratch.

• Utilize automated unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end testing methods to ensure safe shipping and scaling.

• Work collaboratively with a team that includes 1 PM, 2 Senior Engineers, 1 Automation QA, and 1 Domain Analyst.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of backend engineering experience in Go, PHP, Kotlin, Java, Python, or Node.js.

• Proven experience in covering code with unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end tests.

• Strong grasp of high-load system design principles.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and message queues or streams.

• A proactive, communicative, independent, and results-driven approach.

• Experience with payment systems or in the fintech/financial services sector is a plus.

• Knowledge of Kafka is a bonus.

• Familiarity with AWS services is an advantage.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines is beneficial.
