Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop, construct, and sustain backend services and internal APIs utilizing Python.

• Take ownership of the features delivered.

• Manage and troubleshoot production systems based on Linux.

• Conduct performance optimization and root-cause analysis.

• Create, refine, and maintain MySQL queries and schemas for high-traffic, production-level data.

• Implement AI in development, debugging, testing, and unfamiliar code workflows, ensuring to review generated outcomes prior to release.

• Deliver dependable, well-tested features in collaboration with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.

• Engage with both legacy and contemporary codebases, including components based on Perl.

• Aid in the gradual modernization of legacy systems.

• Take part in technical design discussions.

• Manage production troubleshooting and participate in on-call rotations as required.

• Acquire and apply incident response methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in backend development.

• Proficient working knowledge of Python and Linux system administration.

• Strong MySQL experience, encompassing query writing, schema design, and performance issue diagnosis.

• Experience in AI-enhanced delivery throughout the development lifecycle.

• Capability to select suitable AI models for various issues and discern when their use is inappropriate.

• Competence in reviewing AI-generated code, comprehending its failure modes, and adhering to customer data, security, compliance, provenance, and licensing constraints.

• Experience in a collaborative Agile development setting with disciplined sprint and release processes.

• Proven troubleshooting instincts and accountability for production issues under pressure, including acting as a front-line responder.

• Familiarity with Perl and cPanel environments is advantageous but not mandatory.
