Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, test, and manage production services and APIs.

• Take the lead on projects or significant components from defining problems to deployment and ongoing iteration.

• Make informed tradeoffs considering scalability, performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and speed of delivery.

• Enhance observability and operability through metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and learning from incidents.

• Work collaboratively with Product, Design, Support, Customer Success, and engineering teams.

• Engage in technical design discussions and conduct code reviews.

• Investigate production issues and transform operational insights into sustainable enhancements.

• Foster an inclusive culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high-quality engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and operating production software in a professional setting, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

• Solid software engineering foundations, including knowledge of data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, and API design.

• Proficiency in a backend programming language such as Go, Python, Rust, or a similar language; most teams utilize Go.

• Experience in designing or contributing to reliable, observable, and maintainable services as user demand increases.

• Capability to clearly articulate technical decisions and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership regarding work and its impact on downstream customers.

• Willingness to learn unfamiliar systems and navigate through ambiguous challenges.
