Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead the design, development, and enhancement of scalable, high-impact systems.

• Take ownership of features from inception to deployment, ensuring predictable production behavior.

• Tackle complex technical challenges at scale by employing sound engineering principles and contemporary stream-processing technologies.

• Work closely with engineers and product managers to continuously enhance the product.

• Promote technical excellence and drive meaningful user outcomes.

• Construct and maintain real-time, streaming-based alerting backend systems that process millions of events per second with millisecond latency.

• Facilitate complex pattern evaluation, dynamic enrichment, and fault-tolerant delivery for critical observability needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software development.

• More than 3 years of development experience with the JVM stack: Java, Kotlin, or Scala.

• At least 3 years of experience in developing and operating distributed systems in a production environment.

• Practical experience with observability platforms such as Coralogix or Grafana.

• Proven ability to build highly available and reliable systems through strong architectural practices, monitoring, and proactive incident management.

• Experience with data streaming technologies, including Apache Kafka, Spark Streaming, Kafka Streams, or Apache Flink.

• Expertise in data modeling and designing systems for large-scale, distributed datasets.

• Strong understanding of distributed computing principles, including consistency, partitioning, and resilience.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Familiarity with gRPC and Protobuf.

• Hands-on experience with RocksDB optimizations and tuning.

• Experience in a production SaaS environment, including metrics, logging, and troubleshooting production systems.
