Backend Developer, PHP, Laravel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance backend functionality utilizing Laravel.

• Convert business requirements into clean, understandable, and testable code.

• Design and sustain REST APIs and, when suitable, GraphQL APIs.

• Integrate external partners and third-party systems, while assessing and implementing external services.

• Maintain high code quality through practices such as code reviews, automated testing, refactoring, and clean implementation.

• Generate and update technical documentation for APIs, interfaces, and integrations.

• Participate in the planning, execution, and enhancement of features in an agile setting, including sprint planning and retrospectives.

• Assess and review new frameworks, libraries, and tools for product development and system architecture.

• Take responsibility for tasks from solution alignment to deployment.

• Work collaboratively within an agile team to continuously enhance Händlerbund’s legal tech platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing web applications using Laravel or similar frameworks.

• Strong understanding of maintainable systems, stable business logic, and dependable interfaces.

• Experience in creating and integrating APIs and collaborating with external services.

• Organized, clear, and clean development methodology with an emphasis on maintainability and code quality.

• Background in agile teams, preferably with Scrum methodology.

• Familiarity with Livewire, preferably combined with Alpine.js, Flux UI, and Tailwind CSS (considered a plus).

• Experience in DevOps with cloud systems, PaaS platforms, containers, CI/CD, or Linux server administration (considered a plus).

• Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and developing plugins or applications, such as Shopify or JTL (considered a plus).

• Testing experience using PHPUnit or Pest (considered a plus).

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, queues, or asynchronous processing (considered a plus).

• Experience with modular applications and larger codebases (considered a plus).

• Exposure to AI-driven features, automation, or product-focused AI use cases (considered a plus).

• Systems thinking, a solution-oriented mindset, independence, prioritization skills, and ownership.

• Openness to utilizing AI tools in daily development and evaluating their product value objectively.
