Backend Developer, .NET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Create new backend services and enhance existing features.

• Develop integrations for partners and providers.

• Build a majority of functionality internally, including data-layer, analytics, and frontend components as required.

• Convert estate-planning legal and business regulations into appropriate software functionality.

• Utilize .NET 8+/C#, SQL Server, Entity Framework Core, Azure, MQTT, and Azure Event Hubs.

• Create microservices, minimal APIs, webhooks, WebSockets, and some JavaScript when extending work into the frontend.

• Collaborate closely with the CTO, frontend lead, and engineering team.

• Review code and engage in discussions regarding technical decisions prior to implementation.

• Voice objections and pinpoint issues in technical choices.

• Take part in the introductory call, review of the take-home exercise, and technical sessions aimed at code improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in C# and .NET.

• Significant experience with Entity Framework Core, including understanding relationships, optimizing query performance, and identifying N+1 problems.

• Strong SQL Server capabilities.

• Practical knowledge of event-driven communication among services.

• Experience with Azure is a plus.

• A degree in computer science is appreciated but not mandatory.

• Ability to interpret legal and business rules and convert them into system-expressible requirements.

• Willingness to engage in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Capacity to complete a two- to three-hour take-home exercise.

• Ability to read existing code and discuss enhancements in a technical session without AI support.

• Commitment to work through a paid ninety-day mutual-fit period.
