Automotive Installation Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Install and troubleshoot GPS systems, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking devices.

• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and various fleet assets.

• Execute basic 12V/24V wiring tasks, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.

• Route and secure wiring to ensure clean and professional installations.

• Conduct tests on GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and overall system functionality.

• Diagnose issues related to electrical connections, installation, and connectivity.

• Document completed installations with photographs, device details, and service notes.

• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.

• Maintain a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and achieving right-first-time installations.

• Acquire knowledge and apply fleet technology in automotive and commercial vehicles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Hands-on experience in automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation fields.

• Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and fundamental diagnostics.

• Proficient and comfortable using hand and power tools.

• Ability to interpret basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Comfortable working independently in a mobile setting.

• Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

• Professional communication skills and customer service aptitude.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers.

• Must be 21 years of age or older.

• Eligible to work in the U.S. without restrictions.

• Protech utilizes E-Verify to confirm the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires.

• Experience with telematics, GPS, or ELD installations is preferred.

• Familiarity with platforms such as Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar is advantageous.

• Experience with 12V/24V electrical systems is a plus.

• Background in commercial truck or trailer work is beneficial.

• Experience in ADAS scanning or calibration is a bonus.

• Relevant certifications such as ASE, I-CAR, or similar are preferred.
