Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Transition essential automations from n8n, Zapier, and other no-code platforms into sustainable software services.

• Reverse-engineer triggers, steps, dependencies, business rules, retries, and undocumented edge cases.

• Prioritize migrations based on business criticality, reliability risk, and maintenance effort.

• Validate the behavior of migrated systems against production and ensure clear rollback paths are maintained.

• Develop long-running, failure-resistant workflows using Temporal.io or an equivalent orchestration framework.

• Implement retries, timeouts, idempotency, checkpoints, and effective state management.

• Create reusable integrations across CRM/recruiting systems, Supabase/PostgreSQL, Google Sheets, Slack, and internal APIs.

• Establish structured logging, monitoring, alerting, execution visibility, replay, and recovery mechanisms.

• Develop reconciliation processes and audit trails while adhering to source-of-truth boundaries.

• Write well-documented, thoroughly tested Python and/or TypeScript code utilizing Git, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.

• Document architecture, dependencies, assumptions, and recovery procedures.

• Contribute to defining reliability standards for Pearl's automation infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in backend engineering managing integrations, internal tools, or automation infrastructure at a startup, or equivalent experience in platform/infrastructure, low-code migration, or automation-focused full-stack development.

• Strong foundational knowledge in Python and/or TypeScript; experience in building services rather than just scripts.

• Proficient understanding of APIs and asynchronous processes, including REST, webhooks, authentication, pagination, rate limits, queues, and asynchronous jobs.

• Solid SQL and PostgreSQL knowledge.

• Understanding of retries, idempotency, distributed systems, and recovery methodologies.

• Capability to reverse-engineer undocumented workflows and convert business logic into reliable software solutions.

• Hands-on experience with Git, testing, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and operational practices.

• Nice to have: Experience with Temporal.io or another orchestration framework.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with n8n, Zapier, or Make, particularly in the context of migrating away from them.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of Supabase and event-driven architectures.

• Nice to have: Experience with Docker and cloud deployment.

• Nice to have: Experience integrating with recruiting/CRM platforms.

• Nice to have: Background in AI/LLM workflow or agent infrastructure.
