This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Conduct patient registration, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification tasks.
• Respond to patient phone inquiries in a professional and efficient manner.
• Register and arrange appointments for patients both online and in-person.
• Schedule, modify, and update patient appointments as necessary.
• Gather demographic information by interviewing patients.
• Assess eligibility and collect co-pays and deductibles from patients.
• Reach out to insurance providers to confirm eligibility, benefits, and requirements.
• Request, monitor, and secure pre-authorization for medical treatments and therapy services.
• Process insurance authorizations and maintain updated patient records.
• Investigate referrals for approval or denial and utilize CPT and ICD-10 coding to identify diagnoses.
• Utilize online insurance verification platforms effectively.
• Inform the team about changes or trends in insurance.
• Address patient inquiries and scheduling requests promptly.
• Engage in departmental Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Document interactions and communications with providers and staff according to established standards.
• Educate patients and team members about the preauthorization process and coverage details.
• Utilize scheduling, EMR, and various software to assess and convey patient needs.
• Report essential information and unusual incidents in line with policies and procedures.
• Take part in orientation programs.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and CAO guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years of experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology.
• Above-average spelling and typing capabilities.
• Proficient in computer software, including online insurance platforms and DASH.
• Experience with database management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across various functions.
• Experience in an innovative, fast-paced work environment and managing ambiguity.
• Strong interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic setting.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High levels of self-discipline and patience.
• Ability to work independently.
• Outstanding time management, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting.
• Adequate hearing and visual acuity to perform job functions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients both in person and over the phone.
