This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee audit engagements for venture capital funds from the initial planning stage to the issuance of reports and the closing of binders with minimal supervision.
• Formulate audit strategies, conduct risk assessments, create engagement plans, establish staffing plans, and set timelines.
• Evaluate audit workpapers, financial statements, and associated documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to professional standards.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve complex technical accounting and auditing issues.
• Manage multiple engagements and teams concurrently, reallocating resources and sections as necessary.
• Maintain communication with engagement teams, Directors, and Partners regarding the status of jobs, outstanding items, changes in timelines, and budget performance.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients on a daily basis throughout the audit process.
• Clarify technical accounting and auditing topics for engagement teams and client staff.
• Prepare management letter comments and discuss potential findings with clients.
• Assist in timely billing, addressing client billing inquiries, and collection efforts.
• Mentor, train, and oversee Associates and Seniors.
• Advocate for the Firm’s mission and culture.
• Must possess a current and active CPA license.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
• 5–9 years of experience in public accounting audit, specifically in venture capital, private equity, investment companies, or alternative investment funds.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, investment company accounting, audit methodologies, and risk assessment principles.
• Capability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, teams, and client relationships simultaneously.
• Proficient in supervising, mentoring, and developing Associates and Seniors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to think independently, exercise sound professional judgment, maintain strong organizational skills, and proactively solve problems.
• Commitment to integrity, accountability, high-quality work, and outstanding client service.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
