This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Evaluate new and transferred file assignments and draft initial evaluation letters for claims.

• Provide initial discovery within 30 days of assignment.

• Condense discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of receipt.

• Conduct and defend depositions of involved parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses.

• Complete deposition summaries within 20 days.

• Perform legal research and draft motions, oppositions, and replies.

• Appear in court for law and motion proceedings.

• Prepare for and conduct bench trials, jury trials, and binding arbitration.

• Draft pretrial documents, motions in limine, and oppositions.

• Manage trial motions and posttrial motions.

• Undertake additional tasks necessary for the effective defense of insured parties, including assignments from managing and senior managing attorneys.

• Oversee a caseload defending first- and third-party personal injury lawsuits from inception through posttrial motions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

• Admission to the bar in the state(s) where practicing.

• Licensed to practice in the state(s) where employed.

• Strong communication, persuasion, and analytical skills.

• Willingness to travel by automobile for up to 20% of work time.

• Must adhere to company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status.

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Effective organizational skills to manage a caseload with exposures up to $50,000.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience as a licensed attorney with a focus on insurance defense.

• Experience as 1st and 2nd chair during trials is advantageous.

• Law degree from a state-accredited or ABA-accredited law school is preferred.
