Associate Individual Giving Officer – West Coast

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Generate both restricted and unrestricted funding from current and prospective individual donors to advance the NFF’s mission.

• Collaborate closely with the Advancement team and key personnel to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors who can contribute $25K or more annually.

• Partner with Advancement Operations to recognize mid-level donors ($1K–$24,999) and create strategies to nurture them towards major gift contributions.

• Qualify prospects to establish a portfolio of 75–90 individuals capable of donating $25K+ annually within a three-year timeframe.

• Conduct fundraising activities across the West Coast and Alaska, including regions such as California, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.

• Align the interests of individual donors with NFF priorities in areas such as Wildfire Mitigation, Land and Water Restoration, and Recreation.

• Develop prospecting, cultivation, and solicitation strategies for showcase projects within the designated region.

• Foster donor relationships through in-person and virtual meetings, experiences, and timely communications.

• Design and execute stewardship strategies to illustrate the impact of donor contributions.

• Maintain precise records of donor engagement, strategies, and activities utilizing CRM and moves management systems.

• Act as the advancement representative for regional conservation teams and synchronize national fundraising strategies with the needs of field-based Conservation Teams.

• Travel approximately 35–40% of the time, averaging 1½ trips per month.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit development experience with demonstrated success.

• Strong commitment to ethical fundraising principles.

• Dedication to the mission of the National Forest Foundation.

• Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record.

• Access to a dependable personal vehicle for transportation to/from the airport, meetings, and donor visits within driving distance.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including comfort with phone calls, presentations, and soliciting donors.

• Ability to convey the NFF’s mission with enthusiasm, passion, candor, and nuance.

• Proficient in leveraging technology to connect with geographically dispersed donors.

• Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software applications.

• Strong skills in relationship building and management.

• Capacity to work independently and remotely while being an integral part of a team.

• Ability to prioritize effectively while managing diverse tasks and deadlines.

• Keen attention to detail.

• Reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.

• Willingness to travel regularly throughout the West Coast and Alaska.
