Associate, Higher Education

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Deliver direct support to project directors and clients in higher education.

• Employ problem-solving skills to effectively achieve results on critical tasks and milestones.

• Generate insights related to state policy and the implementation of data systems.

• Offer communications and analytical support, which includes creating reports, slide presentations, and other materials.

• Design and execute both quantitative and qualitative analyses utilizing data analysis, interviews, surveys, focus groups, and desk research.

• Conduct policy evaluations and develop technical assistance regarding postsecondary education topics.

• Facilitate the responsible utilization of AI among project teams, ensuring AI-enhanced work is validated against primary sources.

• Deliver data analyses, visualizations, and insights for client use.

• Coordinate in-state and cross-state gatherings of policymakers and practitioners.

• Assist in the development of concept papers and proposals.

• Support the administration and reporting of grants and awards.

• Execute other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative research, data analysis, writing, and project management.

• Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.

• Capability to create clear data visualizations for audiences without technical backgrounds.

• Proven track record of contributing to complex, multi-year, cross-sector strategic initiatives, and/or managing less-complex, shorter-term projects.

• Knowledge of postsecondary, labor market, and K-12 data sources, including IPEDS, LightCast, CRDC, Census, and state longitudinal data systems.

• Understanding of the connections between higher education, workforce development, and economic systems.

• Skill in utilizing emerging technologies, such as AI.

• Minimum of three years of professional experience in career preparation and postsecondary attainment initiatives.

• Background in a state education agency, intermediary organization, postsecondary institution, school district, workforce or economic development agency, or nonprofit organization.

• Master’s degree in public policy, education policy, or related fields, or a Bachelor’s degree paired with equivalent knowledge and experience.

• Willingness to travel as necessary, estimated to be around 20%.
