This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review and refine stories from brand and nonprofit newsroom clients to ensure accuracy, style, and alignment with Stacker's publisher network.
• Collaborate with clients on minor revisions, clarifications, and factual inquiries to prepare stories for syndication.
• Identify and propose enhancements for minor inefficiencies in the editing process.
• Manage and edit multiple stories simultaneously to keep up with a dynamic newswire publishing schedule.
• Edit stories from brand and nonprofit newsroom submissions to comply with Stacker's editorial standards and ready them for syndication on the newswire.
• Assess the newsworthiness of stories and uphold editorial integrity.
• Clearly communicate editorial standards and provide explanations for edits to clients.
• Evaluate data methodologies and identify issues in data-driven narratives.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in journalism or a related discipline.
• Proven track record of upholding high journalistic standards.
• Strong storytelling skills and a discerning eye for narrative quality.
• Ability to evaluate the newsworthiness and integrity of content from various sources.
• Proficient in articulating editorial standards to clients in a clear and professional manner.
• Capable of addressing client requirements and optimizing stories for potential media pickup by newswire partners.
• Skilled in assessing and resolving data methodology concerns in submitted stories.
• Ability to prioritize multiple editing tasks while maintaining consistent output.
• Sharp attention to storytelling and a solid understanding of journalistic principles.
• Competent in working within a deadline-driven newswire environment.
• Preferred: experience with content syndication, resyndication, or similar collaborations.
• Preferred: familiarity with brand partnerships and nonprofit newsrooms.
• Preferred: understanding of the strengths, aspirations, and gaps in local journalism coverage.
• Preferred: experience in editing data journalism related to personal finance, health, or real estate.
