This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the creation and updating of local buyers guides.
• Allocate articles to editors and monitor their progress until publication.
• Assess editors' submissions for precision, completeness, and compliance with editorial guidelines.
• Provide clear, actionable feedback and pinpoint recurring quality challenges throughout the program.
• Ensure production flows smoothly amidst a high volume of tasks and deadlines.
• Conduct research, assess, and incorporate relevant local businesses into buyers guides.
• Confirm service regions, locations, services provided, and business status.
• Verify local costs, licensing, permitting requirements, and regulations.
• Assess the quality of sources and guarantee that factual assertions are adequately substantiated.
• Identify unsupported claims, inconsistencies, outdated data, and factual inaccuracies.
• Perform final quality assurance on links, formatting, company details, and local accuracy.
• Detect issues with source data, research methods, or production workflows.
• Clearly document problems to facilitate corrections and prevent recurrence in future work.
• Spot opportunities to enhance value through more robust local insights, improved utilization of consumer review data, and the introduction of useful new sections.
• Seek out content voids and areas where additional research could enhance a guide's usefulness.
• Assist in refining documentation, processes, and editorial standards as the program evolves.
• Troubleshoot and enhance content production tools and workflows.
• Identify opportunities for improving accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Content, SEO, data, and engineering teams when broader support is necessary.
• Propose process modifications based on patterns identified throughout the program.
• Maintain a steady flow of completed assignments.
• Identify and address quality issues prior to publication.
• Deliver comprehensive, well-sourced research.
• Adhere to established editorial and quality assurance standards.
• Clearly document recurring issues along with suggested solutions.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in editorial, content operations, or a related domain, including experience in editing or managing writers or editors.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the capability to identify patterns across extensive content volumes.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities across various assignments, individuals, and deadlines.
• Thorough research, sourcing, and fact-checking competencies.
• Sound editorial judgment with the ability to differentiate reliable information from weak or unsupported claims.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets and structured data.
• Comfort with learning and utilizing modern content, research, and automation tools.
• Ability to adhere to a detailed process while recognizing when alterations to that process are necessary.
• Clear written communication skills, especially when providing editorial feedback.
• A keen interest in how structured content can be made more beneficial for consumers.
• Bonus: Experience with programmatic SEO or local SEO.
• Bonus: Background in service journalism or consumer guides.
• Bonus: Experience in building or troubleshooting editorial workflows using tools like AirOps, Airtable, or similar platforms.
• Bonus: Experience researching local businesses, licensing, or government regulations.
