This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Convert intricate scientific and technical information into engaging, understandable content for researchers, funding bodies, leadership, and the general public.
• Create and refine grant proposals, manuscripts, reports, newsletters, white papers, website content, marketing materials, and event-related documents.
• Ensure the clarity, integrity, design, layout, photography, production, and distribution of communication materials are upheld.
• Provide editing guidance and support as an advisor and consultant.
• Collaborate on strategic content planning with the Development team.
• Supervise writers, editors, and freelancers to ensure quality output.
• Act as the primary liaison for newsletter inquiries and assist in evaluating design and implementation choices.
• Oversee writing and editing processes while managing the communications editorial calendar.
• Edit materials related to public relations, marketing, conferences, meetings, and events.
• Mentor team members and facilitate coordinated communication activities and projects.
• Spearhead the development, execution, and evaluation of communication strategies.
• Produce engaging content across both print and digital formats for diverse audiences.
• Keep admissions-cycle information, deadlines, academic offerings, and scholarship opportunities up-to-date.
• Coordinate with agency partners, University Communications, and various university departments.
• Report metrics from communication campaigns to leadership.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the university brand.
• Enhance the BIOS CTCC teams' capacity to create complex scientific and technical communications.
• Supervise the development of written and graphical communication skills within BIOS CTCC scientific teams.
• Independently gather and organize data for essential BIOS CTCC initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Seven years of pertinent experience.
• Additional education may replace required experience.
• Additional relevant experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, in accordance with the JHU equivalency formula.
• Proficient editing skills.
• Expertise in the editorial process.
• Strong project management capabilities.
• Excellent proofreading skills.
• Advanced skills in story generation.
• Intermediate visual design abilities.
• Intermediate writing proficiency.
• Preferred: Medical Writer Certified (MWC) professional or equivalent medical/scientific writing qualification.
• Preferred: BELS/ELS certification or another recognized scientific editing credential.
• Preferred: Active membership and participation in AMWA, EMWA, or CSE.
• Preferred: Ongoing education in medical writing, scientific communications, and publication standards.
• Successful candidates will undergo a pre-employment background check.
