Associate Director, Actuarial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead and cultivate a team of Actuarial professionals.

• Set pricing for multiple ACA markets.

• Evaluate the reasonableness of results, assess risks associated with decisions, and provide recommendations that align with market objectives.

• Mentor and develop actuaries, including Managers and Analysts.

• Collaborate with Finance, Market P&L, and Product Development teams.

• Report directly to the VP of Actuarial.

• Manage financial estimates and forecasts; present findings and critical actuarial recommendations to senior management.

• Spearhead initiatives to improve actuarial models and methodologies.

• Oversee the comprehensive actuarial pricing processes within a designated portfolio or sub-portfolio.

• Advise on strategic business decisions related to rates.

• Assess financial risks and opportunities, guiding pricing strategy, SAE considerations, network strategy, and mitigation approaches.

• Provide actuarial expertise across cross-functional teams in both existing and emerging markets and business lines.

• Champion actuarial best practices for automation and documentation.

• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Adhere to relevant laws and regulations.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or 4 years of equivalent experience.

• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA), or actively pursuing exams to achieve fellowship.

• 7+ years of experience in actuarial and/or quantitative analysis.

• Must be a U.S. resident, excluding Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Wyoming, and U.S. Territories.
