Associate Dean – Undergraduate Health Professions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide dotted-line supervision for programs such as Dental Education, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Assisting, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, and Surgical Technology.

• Oversee the strategic direction, development, and delivery of undergraduate health professions programs across various disciplines.

• Collaborate with Senior Department Chairs to monitor and evaluate program outcomes, implementing necessary modifications.

• Conduct curriculum reviews to maintain academic integrity and alignment with the institution’s mission.

• Ensure that programs meet or exceed accreditation standards and pursue continuous improvement.

• Drive innovation in curriculum design and delivery by integrating emerging trends in healthcare and education.

• Lead accreditation processes and ensure compliance with the requirements set by accrediting bodies.

• Work with academic leaders and administration to establish long-term goals and strategic priorities.

• Review and update program manuals regularly.

• Ensure the timely submission of assessment reports to accrediting bodies and the annual departmental assessment report.

• Spearhead the development of new programs and initiatives that address emerging healthcare needs.

• Encourage innovation in pedagogy by utilizing technology, simulation, and interprofessional education.

• Promote continuous improvement and collaborative learning among chairs, directors, faculty, and staff.

• Cultivate relationships with healthcare organizations, employers, and professional associations.

• Travel to campus locations as required.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in a relevant field such as health professions education, medical education, public health, or a discipline specific to health professions.

• Advanced training or certifications in higher education leadership or curriculum development are preferred.

• Extensive experience in academic leadership roles within health professions education, encompassing teaching, curriculum development, and program administration.

• Proven expertise in the administration and coordination of educational programs.

• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including experience in faculty management, student affairs, and academic advising.

• Prior experience in undergraduate education, preferably with a background in specific health disciplines (allied health areas).

• Strong knowledge of accreditation processes, including overseeing program evaluations and ensuring compliance with accrediting standards.

• Familiarity with healthcare and educational policy, as well as emerging technologies in education and healthcare delivery.

• Expertise in trends, challenges, and best practices in health professions education.

• Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary and collaborative health education.

• Ability to travel to campus locations as needed.
