Associate Counsel I – Leasing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Draft, review, and negotiate leases along with other legal documents for all departments within the Company.

• Conduct legal research and interpret current legal documents to ascertain the Company’s legal rights and obligations.

• Evaluate document requests from the leasing department and address any inconsistencies.

• Prepare lease documents utilizing necessary information and previously negotiated language.

• Assess tenant comments and requests.

• Engage in discussions regarding business points with leasing representatives and propose solutions that balance tenant concerns with Company interests.

• Negotiate both business and legal aspects with tenants’ legal representatives and secure internal approvals.

• Amend documents based on negotiations and directives from management.

• Review executed documents to confirm they accurately reflect negotiations and approvals, then initiate execution.

• Evaluate requests for non-lease-related legal documents from various departments.

• Clarify project scopes in collaboration with department representatives.

• Prepare or amend documents to address legal and business concerns.

• Negotiate non-lease-related documents and secure the necessary internal approvals.

⛳️ Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

• Must be licensed to practice law in one state.

• 0-4 years of experience in drafting and negotiating retail space leases.

• Proficient in utilizing company-issued software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office 365, internet browser programs, and Workday.

• Up to 5% travel may be required.

• Must be capable of traveling via commercial airlines.

• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and safely operate a personal or rental vehicle.

• A background check will be performed.
