Associate Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain backend services, internal tools, and automation using Python.

• Provide support for Linux-based production systems by navigating services, analyzing logs, and troubleshooting operational challenges.

• Write and test MySQL queries on production-scale data while honing query optimization skills.

• Leverage AI for coding, debugging, testing, and ramping up on unfamiliar code, ensuring generated outputs align with the codebase.

• Collaborate with senior engineers to transform requirements into thoroughly tested, maintainable, production-ready code.

• Engage in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and contribute to team documentation.

• Work with the broader Hosting team to troubleshoot and resolve production issues while gaining experience in incident response.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in backend development.

• Proficient in Python, including the ability to write and test scripts and services.

• Fundamental knowledge of Linux systems: navigating the shell, checking service statuses, and reading logs.

• Familiarity with MySQL and basic query writing; experience with other relational databases is also considered.

• Experience utilizing AI throughout the delivery lifecycle and reviewing AI-generated code for error handling and customer data boundaries.

• Strong desire to learn about hosting infrastructure and backend principles at scale.

• Bonus: Experience with REST APIs, Git workflows, or basic automation/scripting beyond Python.

• Understanding of Perl or basic cPanel concepts is advantageous but not mandatory.
