Assistant Project Manager – Federal Health

📋 Description

• Assist the Project Manager in the daily execution of contracts and act as the designated PM backup during their absences or unavailability.

• Take ownership of regulatory reporting, which includes the preparation, review, quality control, and timely submission of CMS reports, monthly status updates, and contractual deliverables.

• Facilitate Joint Operating Agreements with Medicare Administrative Contractors, which involves scheduling, creating agendas, documenting, following up, and ensuring compliance.

• Oversee CMS status calls, internal leadership meetings, and cross-functional operational reviews; prepare agendas, capture meeting minutes, and track action items to resolution.

• Monitor compliance across program workstreams, contractual performance standards, deadlines, corrective action plans, and COR/CO correspondence.

• Manage intricate systems and medical review workflow operations, ensuring that staffing, throughput, and processes meet contractual standards and CMS expectations.

• Interact with CMS regarding assigned operational issues and maintain relationships with the COR and CO as instructed by the PM.

• Assist with contract transitions, personnel onboarding, special projects, and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional experience in healthcare program management, federal contracting, or a closely related operational field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience managing complex systems and medical review workflow operations across multiple concurrent workstreams.

• At least 2 years of experience in Medicare Fee-for-Service program operations.

• Familiarity with Medicare coverage, payment policy, and claims processing.

• A Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

• A Bachelor’s degree combined with at least 3 additional years of directly relevant experience may substitute for a Master’s degree.

• Previous experience as an operations manager, deputy director, or senior program administrator at a CMS medical review contractor is preferred.

• Understanding of federal contracting reporting requirements, COR/CO relationship dynamics, and CMS monthly status reporting cycles.

• Direct experience coordinating JOAs with MACs, including data sharing protocols, referral workflows, and CMS contractor coordination obligations.

• Ability to sit, read, work on a computer, and view a computer screen for extended periods.

• Capability to occasionally stand, walk, use hands and fingers, kneel, or crouch.
