Assistant Director – Loans

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Provides leadership in administrative and operational aspects of Federal Direct Loan administration and related Title IV financial aid processes.

• Aids in the planning, coordination, and oversight of loan processing operations, including origination, disbursement, reconciliation, adjustments, compliance monitoring, policy and procedure development, staff supervision, and enhancements to systems/processes.

• Acts as a resource for department leadership, staff, and campus collaborators.

• Assists in departmental management and offers advice to the Director on departmental needs and trends.

• Supervises, trains, and assesses assigned personnel.

• Monitors ongoing work and implements necessary corrective actions.

• Oversees and engages in department budget planning, development, and management.

• Prepares or coordinates financial and administrative documentation.

• Analyzes and interprets statistical data, financial information, and management planning data.

• Develops both short- and long-term goals, objectives, activities, programs, policies, and procedures.

• Represents the University in state, regional, and national organizations, boards, councils, committees, and university committees.

• Serves as a liaison to the community, students, faculty, and staff.

• Designs, develops, and coordinates various projects.

• Addresses departmental issues and suggests measures to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

• May perform the Director's duties in their absence.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of relevant experience in the assigned area/field, including two (2) years in a managerial capacity; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or training that has resulted in comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Three or more years of increasingly responsible experience administering Federal Direct Loans is preferred.

• Desired experience in administering federal Title IV financial aid programs.

• Familiarity with interpreting and applying federal financial aid regulations, institutional policies, and procedural requirements is preferred.

• Experience in reviewing and resolving complex issues related to student financial aid eligibility and loan processing is preferred.

• Desired experience with financial aid systems, student information systems, and federal student aid systems.

• Comprehensive understanding of Title IV regulations and Federal Direct Loan eligibility criteria is preferred.

• Working knowledge of U.S. Department of Education systems, including COD, NSLDS, and FPP, is preferred.

• Experience in monitoring loan processing operations is preferred.

• Ability to interpret federal regulations and translate requirements into operational policies, procedures, system specifications, and staff training is preferred.

• Experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining policies and procedures for federal student loan administration is preferred.

• Experience in identifying compliance risks, processing errors, overawards, and overpayments is preferred.

• Experience conducting quality-control reviews and maintaining auditable financial aid records is preferred.

• Experience collaborating with financial aid systems, compliance, student accounts/business services, enrollment services, and other institutional partners is preferred.

• Experience with financial aid system testing, implementation, updates, and process improvements is preferred.

• Experience in supervising, training, developing, and evaluating professional staff is preferred.

• Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and meet processing deadlines in a high-volume financial aid environment.

• A proven commitment to student-centered service while ensuring institutional and regulatory compliance.

• Capability to perform office-related tasks that involve sitting, keyboarding, mouse use, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.

• Strong communication skills.
